While trying to replace the cowl seal, broke the frozen windshield hinges, have now replaced the hinges and the cowl seal. Also seafoamed the 4 angry squirrels.

What did I do to my YJ today? Not a damn thing!

But...the weather looks like it might have turned for good, so I have to pull the hard top off, reinstall my CB antenna, replace the windshield frame and also get it inspected.

Would be nice to get the passenger side floorboard replaced too...if that happened, I could start to think about lining the tub.

You do know that going with a thermostat that low is only going to make your rig run rich right?

I didn't realize that you have already taken the computer out of the loop so it won't matter. But the 4.0, 4.2 and 2.5 motors run at their best between 200* and 210*. With the computer on the newer ones at least being around this temp optimizes fuel usage and wear. If you still had the computer it would run in "warm up mode" longer because it would still wait till 195*-200* before it finished warming up. When the truck is warming up it runs a little richer.

Thanks for the tip. It's always better to get a 2nd, 3rd or 4th opinion on things, especially when you're learning like me.

With the bypass and adjustability of a carb, you can make the 4.2 run better at cooler temps. Much better that way in the sun belt. A 160* t/stat may be a litte cool, but who knows, it may be a good thing. Hopefully Laffman will let us know how it runs. I have a 180* thermostat with my Holley and don't have a problem. It is somewhat cold blodded, but what aftermarket carb isn't....
