Just finished rear pads and rotors on my 2500 CTD. Now on to the YJ. Today and tomorrow it gets a 95 mustang 130 amp alternator, a TJ master cyl, and a 99 Durango steering box.

If I don't go to Dubai next weekend for work, taking the YJ wheeling.

I know that, I'm just saying why waste the good tires if you can find crappy tires to roast off?

A couple of weeks ago I replaced my oil pan and timing chain cover gaskets. When driving my oil pressure is around 45-

50 lbs. but when I idle it drops to around 30-5 and idles kinda rough. Could this be the oil pump going bad? When driving it has plenty of power even when towing our camper it pulls great. Just when it idles for more than a minute or so it drops oil pressure. Any ideas things to check?

Well would you look at that. Bolt on 130 amp alternator.

Well it's a bolt on if you have a 5.0L

There is a damn near bolt on one for you too. Late 90s GC alt, 136 amp.

Just have to grind down the mount on the alternator slightly to get it to fit. Plus its always a good idea to upgrade to a fused 4ga wire from it to the battery while you do it.

Super easy, I ran one on my YJs 4.0 when I had it.

It's idling wrong because something is wrong, but it is not the oil pump.

Any pressure that indicates flow at idle is sufficient.

As your motor idles rough, the rpm rises and falls and that is why you see a pressure fluctuation. That that small rpm difference can get you up to 30 is an indication that your motor is fine.

Shoot your rough idle problem - that's all you need to do - your oil pump and lower end of the motor are fine.

It was Yj day in the shop today.

I took a $25 teraflex 6 cylinder oil skid pan and adapted it for the 4 cylinder. Get them while they last

That pic is awesome!
Today I discovered where the new squeeling is coming from. My Taurus fan is contacting the crank bolt. The bolt has dug a nice, deep groove into the front of the fan motor. I will have to grind it down and replace the fan now. Always something....:

Cheers

Interesting. Mine did not, but it was minor how much I had to take off.

Regardless, its a good swap.
