At least your eyes aren't burned too. Sandpaper eyes suck.

Got some blitz black and a harbor freight 2 gun set and a little primer. Started grinding out the rust. Nothing through the metal. Just surface pitted in a few spots. Only a few dents I'm going to worry about on the hood and it will be painting time. I'm going to sand the entire body a little to give a rough surface for the paint to stick then wipe her down with mineral spirits then go to town. My plan is to make a make shift booth in my driveway out of either scrap 2x4's or pvc. Tape and plastic drop cloths. Should be good enough. I'm not sure how I want to do the top though. Might stick with normal black. What you guys think? Any prep tips?

My choice of welding attire is short sleeves and shorts. And Vans that are full of holes.

So today i went out on a search for a perfect cheap trunk like structure to fit the back of my jeep when the top is off that i can lock. I hit home depot and found a 50 gallon stanley tool chest with wheels that is the perfect size to slide right between my wheel wells. It has a lock built in along with 4 spot's to put a lock as well! Now it is made of plastic but it is pretty hefty overall, im thinking I may bolt it to the body for added security but so far it is defiantly doing the trick and at only 100 bucks wont break the bank either! check them out!

Ha although that is funny it's really not smart. Getting a "tan" from welding can cause cancer. I wear a full flame retardant welding suit, not expensive at all...

Like so.

Went with my buddy to check out what is now his new YJ. We've got some work to do, has 3" spacers on it to run Toyota rims. Those will be coming off first. He's going to let me build it, with his checkbook, so needless to say, this will be fun!

Very little rust, overall I'd say it was a good buy.

Probably sent from my couch cause I'm broke

Yeah I know. There is truth in what I said but I was mostly joking. I normally wear a flannel to protect my arms. I only have one pair of pants and I can hardly find them so it really is shorts most of the time. I weld once every few months for a few minutes at the most.

After getting flash burned a couple times I definitely wear at least a long sleeve for small stuff and if I'm on my back welding I'll throw leather on, learned that the hard way too after laying on a molten piece of spatter which kindly made a nice small cauterized hole in the back of my arm. I'm looking to buy some lighter weight more breathable stuff now especially for those super hot days.

Yeah I got this stuff through my buddy who is a union pipe fitter/welder and I know he got it through work. Carhartt makes some good fire retardant stuff and its fairly cheap.

Ill definitely get one when I'm over again. I think we have to put a fuel pump in soon. It wouldn't start for us last night, which is weird because it started perfectly every time and drove 40 miles home perfectly.
