I got my Deaver spring plates from RuffStuff yesterday and damnn these things are beefy! Didnt realize how wide they were either so Im going to have to cut the shock mounts off that we just welded on.

I was discussing it with a friend at the garage, I think instead of rewelding the shock mount on the axle, Im just going to weld a bolt or something to the spring plate for the shock to mount to. I dont think that would create any problems would it?

Definitely! Its a really great design giving more ground clearance and it will also keep the leafs inline. I plan on taking off the hendrix clamps at either end of the spring pack once I mount these to get a little more flex

So I was looking around at other spring plates with integrated shock mounts and it looks like I could just drill a hole through the spring plate and just grade 8 nut and bolt a shock mount on like this

http://www.currieenterprises.com/ces...t.aspx?id=1113

I dont have my spring plates in front of me but I think there will be more than enough room and should be strong enough. Opinions?

I already un bolted the one at the shackle end and noticed an improvment in flex

How long does it usually take a drive shaft shop to cut down and balance a drive shaft?? I dropped it off Monday and gave them a call today asking if it was ready yet and they said not till Monday!! A week?! We made my front drive shaft in 30 mins! I nearly ripped the guy a new one! I should have just scrounged up some extra cash and ordered one. Coulda had it for this weekend!

I think Im going through some serious Jeep withdrawals..

GM steering columns have a habit of coming loose internally. There are three screws that loosen up and allow the wheel to flop all around just past the tilt point, have to take the wheel off and go in below the turn signal switch to get to the three bolts. When you put it back together use lock tite so that it never happens again.

Paid the shop a pretty penny to drop the tranny and replace my whole clutch. Yay, me! But, they are good guys and also noticed the trans mounts were fubar, so they changed those out while they were in there.

Anybody got a line in a 4.0 complete with harness? What's a good price? Plans to take the jeep to the lake fell apart due to a crappy running 4.2l. Ready to throw that motor in the lake.

I am in the same position. After my last trip up at 7000 ft elevation, I remembered why they got rid of the carb.
Find a 91 or newer Cherokee and buy the whole car. Yes car. Take what you want out of it and part out the rest to get some of your money back. Then sell the carcass to a bone yard for a little more.
CA smog rules say you must use a newer engine and move all the smog equipment from the newer vehicle to the old one. FI Cherokars have less smog stuff than the 87-90 YJs. Much simpler system.
This is what I am doing. You can find a decent Cherokar for $1500 or less. Do a valve job on the engine before you put it in. Cost less than $100 if you take the head to a shop and then put it back on by yourself.
You are going to need stuff like the crank position sensor, computer, cat converter, harness, etc... out of the donor vehicle..
Pretty simple swap.
My 4.2 runs great. It's that crappy BA10/5 transmission I hate. But to swap in an AX15 would cost me $500 and I'm still stuck with all that smog crap and a carb. I am wanting to convert to auto trans anyway.
I am doing this swap as soon as I get a couple more projects on my ranch done.

Changed the oil for the first time since she's been back on all 4 again 3 months ago. Everything looked good and probably could have left it alone for a little while longer.

Decided to give the Purolator PureOne a go this time since there were lots of good comments on it. Been running Fram mostly and k&n a few times till now.
