im tryin to get mine quieter. i had magnaflow build me an exhaust using the quietest muffler they could fit under my jeep and run it all the way out the back. it sounded ****in great like that but when i went to a 4 link it no longer fit and i had to chop it up. it used to be just louder than a stock 2500hd silverado. now im stuck with a tiny glass packed because thats all i can get to fit...

As aside, would it make sense in your case, with removing the lowering kit, instead of just mounting the skid to the frame, to throw a stainless washer between the two?
Not sure if you can get a washer in between with the design of the skip plate. I am planning on going with Grade 8 bolts. I don't know if I can find a bolt with the taper for the holes in the skid plate. I would think as long as its got a solid washer to sit on it should be ok?

You can also buy tapered washers from a good hardware supply.

that was my first setup but not out the back. flowmaster 44 dumping out right under the jeep behind the front seats. that was my inspiration to get the quietest muffler i could find. with the magnaflow you really don't hear it till you get on it. i absolutely loved the sound that one had but suspension>sound. later today i'll shoot you a pic of the magnaflow i used to have on it. maybe you can use it is a reference to what you want on yours?

So I was given these steps from a buddy who did a whole ton of upgrades on his TJ... didn't want to hack off the hooks and weld them directly to the frame (thereby making them permanent)... also didn't want to start drilling the frame to bolt them on. So I had another metal-fabbing buddy do a little work for me... was hoping he'd get more pics of the process, but noooo... anyway, he came out and put them on last night:

Little 4" channel:

A few welds:

Some nice strong bolts:

And there you go!

Put them a little lower because the wife is short (5'2")... they don't QUITE line up straight with the body, but there is some play where the steps bolt to the arms, so I may be able to straighten them out a bit, or even lengthen the holes a bit to give a tad more adjustment.

Anyway, they're on, and they look pretty good!
