Remember my issue with the transmission bolts disappearing? Well, they're gone again. Last time I ran a longer bolt, long enough to put a lock washer AND a nylock nut, AND thread locker on. And it's disappeared again....

Got yet another set of boomerang shackles in from Eddie (BESRK). They once again went to another jeep that isn't mine.

Seems these guys are after a new means of money making with your bolts, hardly anyone wears underwear anymore.

Well, it was awesome for about 90 minutes. I started hearing a loud clicking every time my foot was on the gas (especially not good when you can hear it at highway speed with the top down). Luckily, the exit I pulled off on had a big rig repair shop with lots of grease-covered dudes eager to check out the Jeep. Then they heard it and said "it might be a good idea to turn that off".

Consensus among most (including above AAA dude, Wayne) is that it spun a rod bearing. Thank GOD my friend who drove me down there was following me home, and waited it out with me. Jeep is now back in WV, and I am four hours away in VA. Well, I have waited ten years....what's another couple of weeks? It was driving great until the knock, knock, knocking....so God only knows what happened.

Since you already know it's worth the wait, you can use the extra down time to scan through this thread for ideas. Another great one that may give you some inspiration is this thread: http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f12/i...l#post14160078

PS - Nice Jeep!

My passenger side mirror would turn and droop at road speeds. I worked the rubber boot down and wrapped the stem with electrical tape to support it. Then I cinched a zip-tie around the tape to keep it secure. After a test drive it was still in the position I originally set it in.

If I were you I'd get a motion sensor(radio shack) to put by the jeep. Put the receiver/noise maker part next to your bed, right next to the 12 gauge!!

I have the same problem. There has to be a better way to tighten them up.

Is it time to drill the bolts for castle nuts and wire/cotter pins?

I think it's obvious that they're breaking and there is another problem possibly in the mounts. Thieving gnomes are on holiday from April-October every year. Duh!

Replaced the mount when I repaired the belly pan. Just discovered that it stripped out this time. Running a smaller diameter bolt, but much longer, 2 lock washers, double nuts, and threadlocker....
