That's why I carry two shovels. At least that solid passenger shaft up front can serve a purpose in a Yj somewhere.

Today: cleaned and degreased transfer case inside & out, let drip dry, and roughed up the repair area with a file. Applied JB Weld, loosely hung skidplate from frame, and raised transmission about 3/8" to give clearance and prevent future leaks. Looks like I'll be getting another transfer case before too long, and I might as well install a SYE, new chain, and bearings before bolting it up.

Then I'll pick your brain for the wiring. I'm thinking I want them to. Come on when in reverse and also selectable. Now that I thought that out, I'm thinking maybe I wouldnt need it to switch on manually... Sorry thinking out loud

A two way toggle is best. You can have it come on with reverse lights one way, off in the center, and manually in the other direction
Reverse-off-on

Happily discovered (I believe) that my 87 yj has the 231 tcase. The writing was worn off on part of the badge; but the gears are 272, which I assume is the 231.

Went to the mud hole and slipped in
And of course I rescued those of lesser ability
There was no one there except this kid. Still had fun in there, just had to stay where there was a tree handy.... and fortunately did not need one

Finally took some pictures after finishing the lift. Still need some bigger shoes and need to figure out why I have a squeal when turning right. I have no clue what it could be...

Welded on. They are 15,000 lb from tractor supply.
I also have added light tabs (4)
and cut the ends off so it is a shorty.
