This is what happens when you catch your long shackle on a rock. I got lucky, that's all that happened. It could be much worse, like a broken transfer case.
The second pic is a Boomerang shackle. That can't happen anymore.

Stitched my dilapidated soft top back together. Only to have one of the zipper strips tear off as i'm re-assembling. Guess i'll have to stick it again on monday. But at least it's holding tighter now.

The castor angle is changed with the longer shackles and your steering can be compromised in a very scary way. Bumpsteer is the road controlling the steering wheel through the tires, which is the opposite way it's supposed to work.
Gimme a few days and I'll have you pm your info to Travis.

It can still happen with booms. Here's the thing that caused me to upgrade my springs finally from RC to BDS:

Well those booms are a lot longer than mine, and mine have a shorter end on the frame side. Either way they can only go back so far. When I bent my spring, the shackle was pushed back flat against frame.

So what your saying the shackles I have that give me 2" of extra lift could be bad eventhough they've been good so far?

Would I be able to clear my 33x 12.50s with booms? I have a decent amount of clearance with my shackles on now.

I have 2" shackles and 4" lift and have no steering or other problems. I was told the way to prevent this from happening is to put in a shackle reversal kits thus putting the shackle in the back under the cab.

are they 2" of lift or 2" extra in length over stock. you only get 1/2 the amount of lift that the shackle is over the stock length.
stock shackles are 4" eye-eye. for a one inch lift you get 6" eye-eye. for you to have a 2" lift that means your shackles are 8" eye-eye.....
thats Friggin HUGE.
