Bingo. Those diodes allow power to be sent to your lamps from two different sources without interfering (bucking power) with each other.

I mounted and wired a round 4 way plug under the front left turn signal light. Like this one. Then made an extension to my truck.

Right. They aren't hurting anything, just remember that they are there in case you have a short in the wiring headed up front. Since its now effectively 3-way'd any damage to the extra leg will affect the whole thing. Handy to have though.
