weber vent to ground!

I just installed a weber 32/36 to replace the original carter bbd. I installed the vent tube as instructed and noticed that it simply dead-ended to the ground! I am no mechanic but I know that ain't right. I assume this should go to a vapor canister? What should I do in the absence of said canister.

Plug or cap the bowl vent nipple at the carb.
