Watertemp guage?

Y water temp guage stopped working on my 1988 yj. How do I tell if it is the guage or the something else?

check and make sure there is coolant in the system...

Remove the wire at the sensor and ground it. I believe the gauge should peg to max, un-ground the wire and the gauge should be at the bottom. If that type of reaction does not happen start looking at the wiring.

there is a tiny sensor coming off a bolt on the manifold or head near the firewall. check that this is plugged in.
