Well, you might have ruined your speaker. If not, I'd be surprised. I just put in new speakers upfront, Polk 4x6. I can't remember the model, go to circuitcity.com. They are marine grade, water proof. That was the selling point for me.

The water would not have completely killed the speakers but it could make then sound bad. The paper code of the speaker will distort if they get really wet and then they dry not in their original shape.
So I'd venture to say the problem is not your speakers but something else.

I'd punish the hose! Do the speakers make any sound at all? I can't see how it'd kill the system. Unless the speakers were pretty dead already and the wires fell off the cone.

The first time mine got wet they buzzed for a while, and then once they dried out they were ok, but not as good as before. I plan on going to marine ones soon.
