Warn 8274....

warn 8274
can anyone speak for the warn 8274?? a guy has one for sale with a custom bumper that will bolt on a yj, the bumper i cant really member what it is like, but it has tow points on it like d-links or d-shackles whatever you wanna call em lol, and it powder coated as far as i know, and the winch was bought about 5yrs ago, when he got it the winch made a clunkin noise so he took it apart and noticed the gears had a couple teeth missing, so he went and ordered all new parts for the internals, and he said it worked great and got him through some really tough spots when needed, but hasnt used it in about 3yrs.......he is asking 600 (member im in canada) for the winch and bumper, the winch comes with a roller fairlein as well, i would like to know some input on the 8274 and if there is a way to check if it has been rebuilt by looking or anything like that.... the more info the better thanks Rob

the 8274 is probably the best winch ever made, period.
they are super tough, but are quite high, as the are a "stacked" design. can still get the parts for any needed repairs from warn. can even get a higher rated motor for it should the need ever arrise. i'd say if it works, and thte bumper looks good, its worth it. they are gettin rare now, and the people that have them for sale are asking a fortune for them.

good for you. if it all works as it should, and the bumper looks ok, i'd be handing some money over. i know guys that are running those winches today, and they have the old old ones, that have "jeep special edition" stamped on the tag on the winch....
