Naekid runs 38" michellin XMLs on his Lareda, its sprungover with a think a 4 inch superlift... maybe 4.5? And he has bushwacker flares. Springover would be the best yet, but know what you're getting into first. Springover with your lift should fit 38s but may require some slight fender trimming, maybe TJ flares or something.

I think your first priority for 38's should be 1 TON axles.
Stock sh!t won't survive 38's on the trail.

You will want to run full-width axles (to keep the tires from rubbing the frame on full-turn), SOA, 4 (or more) inches of spring lift .. and trim the body for full flex. If you don't care about flex (as you don't need flex for mud), just put in some long bumpstops to keep the tires from doing the smack-down on your tin-work.
Take a peak at my homepage on how I made 38" military tires work ..

If you can't figure out how to run 38s then you don't need them.

woah cowboy.... you need to tone it down a bit there. Look at that fender trimming... or actually, fender removal and hood cutting. You can always fit tires different ways, but without cutting your body off, thats the amount of lift needed. And those body relocation brackets are just like a body lift without the pucks. sure its stronger and more stable, but it will still look like crap IMO. But hey, do whatever you want to do to your jeep... this guy is asking for advice, not an argument.

Alright, how about if I take the body off? Then I wouldn't even need a lift at all!!
So many ways to get certain tire sizes to fit that we all could argue for days.

I was just pointing out another way to do it. And Naekid mentioned trimming also, and there was some trimming there too. But the rear of that jeep still has fenders and is not comp cut.

My Jeep - 4" suspension and SOA - before trimming
My Jeep - 4" suspension and SOA - after trimming
Depending on what the guy really wants to do - flex might not be a requirement. Goin' fast through mud requires only enough flex to work minor ruts - not climbing over 4' bolders. His name has mud in it, not rock .. so it was my assumption that he just wanted his axles a little higher so that they don't get hung up in the thick stuff.
I never recommend body-lifts due to the fact that I have seen several rigs' body-lifts destroy the body with too much flex and the having the metal fatigue at the mounts.
The absolute best way to run 38" tires .. a tube-buggy - but then its not a Jeep anymore.

yep by that logic if you cut the body like mine you could easily clear 44s in the back. The front may be more involved though
