Walker front exhaust pipe is only 2" diameter???

I'm doing a 4.0 swap in my CJ7 and ordered a Walker replacement downpipe for '93-95 YJ with a 4.0L (part number 53475). All the specs I read for the pipe list it as a 2.25" pipe. All I've read about the YJ and other Jeeps with the 4.0 says that these came stock with a 2.25" pipe.

So, I get the Walker 53475 in yesterday, and, much to my surprise, it's a 2" pipe that is flared to 2.25" at the end to accept another 2" pipe slid into it....

Can anyone confirm that the downpipe on a 4.0 YJ is supposed to be 2.25" diameter all the way down and not just at the flare on the end?

I wouldn't sweat it unless you drag race your Jeep.

Smaller diameter means higher velocity means better low-rpm scavenging means more low-end torque.

Smaller diameter will hurt the top end as the engine tries to push more gas through the pipe than it can flow.

You will never hit that point with your motor.

Personally, I like using the TJ downpipe on the YJ. It wraps around in front of the oil pan for better clearance. You might want to consider it.

I can't use the TJ pipe (or even the full YJ pipe) because this is going in a CJ7. The front driveshaft is on the passenger side, so the exhaust has to be routed straight down the driver's side frame. My intent was to buy this YJ pipe and cut it just after the first bend (where its pointing straight back) and connecting my pipe there.

So are the factory YJ down pipes 2" OD until the end at the flare like this replacement?

Yes, 2" until the flare at the end is correct, I still have factory exhaust on my 95 and that's what mine has.

Ok, thanks for verifying this pipe is correct. If this is what the factory used, I'm good with it. Just wasn't under the impression that's what it used. Thanks again!
