Vibration between 60-65 mph only...

Ok... so as the title says, I hit the highway and once I get to 60mph it feels as though the front end begins to shake - this lasts until I hit 65 and then stops... always between 60-65... should I be looking at the drive shaft, or tires? I figure since it happens at a certain speed only I should be able to narrow it down a bit easier...

I was just about to post this exact same question.

Anyone have any suggestions as to the cause might be?

...makes me 3rd, but mine starts at about 45-65 cause I have a locker. Mines the driveshaft though, non balanced from factory + locker = vibes. Took it to get it balanced...dude told me it was pretty bent so he tried to straighten it and put weights on it...better, but still there. I'm gonna take it back to see if he can work it again...if not i'll be getting a new shaft.

Where I'd start would be:
-If you have a locker, pull the front driveshaft and see if it goes away. if not it's not your driveshaft.
-Get tires balanced
-check all tre's up front
-get it aligned

that's the order i'd work in

Well, I had a vibration problem too, at around 40 MPH, did all I could to fix it and was never able to, replaced tie rod ends, had my steering box rebuilt, balanced tires, fixed my wheels, nothing seemed to help, then I went offroading to the volcano and after some bumpy roads when I was returning home I noticed my vibration is gone.

I know this makes no sense, there is no scientific or technical quality to my post, but it happened nonetheless, now it is sorta happening again, time for more offroading, I believe something in the suspension may be too stiff and the offroading gives it a bit more flex or something

I've got similar issues. Tuens out it was the tie rod and pins being worn out.

130 bucks from 4WD or Quadratek for a full replacement.

It's your tires.
Without a doubt. Had the same problem. Small shimmies/vibration between 60-65.
Had 'em balanced and vibes were completely gone.

I went through buying parts too before I having them simply balanced later to find it was completely unnecessary.

So save yourself time and money and balance them.
Costs like 50 bucks give or take haha.

Easiest place for me to start... and least expensive! I will check the tires!
Thanks everyone!

You can put your spare into the rotation and see if you can determine exactly which tire is causing it. Either a belt snapped and you've got a small bubble forming or you've got a nail in there - or it was never balanced correctly to begin with.

I've got a similar issues and did a tire rotation a while back and have determined that the problem tire is on the back. One of them has two nails in it, that could be the culprit.

Check all ball joints & tie rod ends. Check wheel bearings for too much play.
My fix was a new steering damper, as the old one was original equipment & offered zero resistance in either direction. Like a bicycle tire pump that's not connected to anything.

It feels like a tire is dribbling like a basketball, the faster I drive the worse it gets. I just had a new drive-shaft installed. I'm going to take it in for a re-balance, hopefully that will cure the vibration.

Mine was the driveshaft. All I did to troubleshoot waspull the shaft. No more vibes. The same day I found out it was locked up front. Good luck but don't forget the driveshaft.
