Vibes after 4" RC lift

I just finished installing my RC lift. And now I have some slight vibrations. How do I know if its coming from the driveline angle?

It is, because you just changed the driveline angle by quite a bit. Consider SYE/Cv shaft, and possibly a 1" MML (if you have a body lift, 1" minimum) and/or a 1" T-case drop.

its not definately from the drive line. i installed it on mine and my driveline is fine. it could be, but not definately. if you read the instructions that came with the lift it says something like it may be necessary on some vehicles to cut the plate around the shifter back a little to allow the vehicle to properly shift into 2nd and 4th. iv heard of a couple people with vibes cause even though their jeep is in 2nd, its not in 100%. check that and check to make sure your u-joints are good and everything before you get too crazy with it too. oh yeah, and if you installed larger wheel/tires on your rig, it could also be out of balance wheels. just my .02

If you didn't have vibes before the lift then it's a good bet it's driveline angle. I lifted mine 3" and get little to no vibes with the transfer case drop installed. Check the trans and engine mounts. If they're old, oil soaked or dry rotted they may some of the cause. Jack the body of the Jeep up so the suspension is at full droop. ( block the front wheels and use proper safety) With the Jeep in neutral spin the rear driveshaft by hand and see if the u joints bind at all. If they do you found the trouble.

I believe you, that you didn't have problems with vibes after your lift. But usually it's a crap shoot, some do, some don't. He just installed a 4" lift, now he has a vibe. If I were placing a bet, I'd say you just got lucky, and he didn't. It's just a roll of the dice.

^^ my thoughts exactly, if you did check your u joints sometimes the slight change in angle will cause them to vibrate.

I'm pretty close to buying the rough country 4" lift. If i get that and do their 1" boomerang shackles, what's the probability i will NEED a slip yoke eliminator? I figure the driveline angle will be way different than before but how much different?

it would be your best bet to get a SYE and CV driveshaft because the drop will not take care of all the vibes most likely. ...and it's just a good investment to get one

Are you running the TC drop with those 3/4" booms?

I installed the RC 4" kit w/ T-case drop just weeks ago and I had really bad vibes. I drove it around the block a few times then crawled back under to find that my T-case was rubbing on the skid plate on drivers side rear. I notched out the skid plate and the really bad vibes are now only in 3rd and almost tolerable. I ordered the 1.25" BL from JKS w/budget 1" MML and that should help.

Then I went crazy over the weekend and purchased a used AX-15 w/T-case to replace my BA-10(123k and still shifting), I also bought the SYE kit w/Woods Drive shaft. I can't wait to tear it all apart and put it back together again.

How much does a SYE and tom woods drive shaft usually run? i'm pretty much broke after the lift and tires for at least a couple weeks.
