In 1991 the switch that causes the 4WD light to go on was changed from a vacuum operated switch on the firewall to a mechanical switch on the vac disco housing. Additionally the 91 and up YJ's only had two vacuum lines going to the front axle as opposed to the 3 vacuum lines used from 87-90.

I have a 1991 YJ that is exactly as pictured in the diagram. The thing is, the labels on the jeep itself state it was manufactured in late 1990, in Ontario, but the registration states 1991. (Really annoying)

Thankyou for pointing this out. I will correct that.

Edit: corrected the FAQ, what do you think???

I have another question for you guys. I cut my vacuum lines replacing the floor board on the passenger side. I spliced them all back together and my 4WD works. When in 4WD High the light (light on top) works, when in 4WD Low the same light stays on (light on top), the 4WD Low light does not turn on, the 4WD High light (light on top) stays on. Any Ideas?

Mine only has one 4WD light that comes on when the axle locks. Do the later YJs have separate lights for 4WD High and Low?

I do not think it can differentiate between 4 hi, or 4 low, if so, you would need an additional switch an the transfer, right?
