Using Seats from a TJ

Someone I know told me that he would give me his seats from his TJ once he got new ones. My question is, will they fit on my '87 YJ? Has anyone else done this before? Thanks.

I think they require riser adapters but can be bought from jcw or quadratec. I'm not totally sure. Maybe someone else will chime in.

I think those adapters are to install "direct-fit" CJ/YJ seats onto TJ frames. If I'm reading right, the OP wants to go the other way & put TJ seats onto CJ/YJ style sliders/risers.

If that's the case, I would have my doubts as to whether those adapters would help make it a "bolt-in" procedure.

I wouldn't think that fabbing up something would be too difficult though. Be the first one & do a write-up with pics!

i looked into this before and the TJ seats are too tall. I've seen people cut the TJ risers and weld them back together shorter to fit. PITA evan if they are free.

I am currently working on doing this with my yj. I have worked on it today and hope to finish it up the early part on next week. I am fabbing bracketry for the seats. I tried to use my old brackets and even shortened them, but still wasnt pleased. I will keep everyone updated on how it goes and post pics.
