Using different Jeep parts

Hey guys,
I was wondering if someone could let me know if i could use some parts from a 1992 Jeep wrangler (Automatic V6) onto a 1988 Jeep Wrangler (Manual V6) The Parts that I'm needing to replace is basically the entire piston chamber and the crankshaft.

Considering those are both YJs, pretty much everything should work. Might want to go over to YJ tech though.

The '92 is a 4.0 Inline 6 and the '88 is a 4.2 Inline 6. Not much is interchangeable. Guys use 4.2 parts to stroke their 4.0 so I'm gonna say that you couldnt use the pistons or crank without a considerable amount of work.

the pistons wont work, they are different size. the 4.2 crankshaft into the 4.0 makes it into a stroker but requires some extra work . the 4.0 head onto a 4.2 is a popular mod. the flywheel will work, starter and water pump too.

Like mentioned the engines are different. I'd just swap the entire 4.0 into the 88 if you're robbing parts off the 92 anyhow.
