Used Hard Tops

What would be a decent price for a used hard top for my YJ? The new ones sell from Quadra for $2400 (including the 60 shipping fee and the 250 truck freight fee).

I found two locally, but they want $1500 bucks. Too much?

Thanks

I'd keep looking. I just found one for $100. It is missing the rear glass but I found a replacement liftgate for free. I wouldn't pay more than $500-600 for one in good shape.

They go for $400-600 around here in decent condition. Beware of ones missing glass though. You can get lucky but sometimes the pieces are hard to find or really expensive. Especially the rear.

I sold mine for 350, and I was happy to get that. Anything more than 400 is a rip off. Keep looking.

It all depends on the top and how old it is. If it's a brand new top of the line top their trying to sell for $1500 then it's worth it. It's like buying a jeep its self, it all depends on the condition and the situation.

Tops in my area go from 100-500. Most of the time the tops are junk that are 100 bucks but I got mine for 150 and it's amazing. I could easily sell it for 400. And don't forget you can put a Cj or tj top on your yj.

Throw a wanted post up on Craigslist or a site like that with what your looking for. I did that last summer and got 20-30 offers under $400 bucks. Lots of People have hard tops and don't really have the room to store them, when they are running their soft top or no top in the warmer months.... The top I got was like new, one of the top of the line insulated and sunroof style for only $150 bucks.. Try and get one while its warm out, before people start thinking about putting it back on for the winter. Once winter hits the price definitely goes up.

I think it's much like buying the Jeep itself, different areas will draw different amounts. In my area there was a guy on cl selling a top with NO GLASS at all for $400 and another with no rear glass and the top was all busted up for $300. Another guy had a top and two full doors for $2,300. I listed my hardtop in good shape all the glass etc for $800 and had a bunch of people interested, sold it to the first guy that showed up for $700. I guess it all depends.

I''d spend more in shipping - to have a top packed and shipped to me in Washington State would be around 500 bucks, that's truck freight. I can buy one locally for that price - thanks though. I just redid my entire Jeep In the Rustoleum Bedliner, inside and out

remember one thing. It is what you want to pay not what they want to charge. I have seen tops 100 to 1000 .If someone wants to sell one make a lowball offer .What is the worst they say "no".

Hard tops here fluctuate between summer and winter. $500 would be on the high end for sure though.
