Uh oh.. Drive line issues

For some reason I don't think that the ENTIRE drive line is supposed to do this:

Thought it was the muffler again, but went down and all of the exhaust bolts are tight as can be. Pulled on the driveshaft to move myself closer and felt/saw the entire thing move The 2 bolts on the bottom of the skid plate are tight, and even with the nuts off, the section they bolt to doesn't move. What the hell is wrong now???????

WHEW! Big relief.

Turns out there's a bracket that bolts to the bottom of the tranny with 2 bolts. One of those bolts is missing, but the other one was resting inside the skid plate. Off to Home Depot to find another bolt. In the meantime all the parts are soaking with WD-40 to be cleaned.

Also need some threadlocker. Don't think the blue stuff will work?

X'2 on double checking the motor mounts too, if that's been flopping around they very well could be shot.

I also recommend Mean Max's write-up with the aftermarket poly transmission mount.

Oh, and X3 on the motor mounts.

Oh, and X3 on the motor mounts.
Completely agree. I got one a few years ago from MORE and man what a difference. my shifters would move all over the place before especially on acceleration and deceleration and that poly mount fixed that.

Actually, after cleaning everything off, it all looked to be in good condition. Guess the gear oil preserved the rubber somehow?? T-case doesn't touch the skidplate.

Put a ton of high temp threadlocker on the one remaining bolt and stuck it all back together then torqued it down as much as I could. Threw the skidplate back on with a little, *cough* TLC, and then took it for the obligatory test drive. Acceleration and deceleration feels crisp rather than sort of kinda mushy. Motor mounts look like they are in OKAY condition but probably should replace them soon. Not that I'm going to do that anyways, will probably do a 6 cylinder swap or get another Jeep with a 6 in it before I do that..

Did you replace the other bolt too?
I would not use red thread locker or any thread locker on that mount.
The case is alum. You will pull the threads out next time you take the bolt out.

^Haven't experienced tearing threads out on aluminum parts, but no it's not red. It's white/high temp, works just like the blue stuff.

The other bolt is still MIA. It will have to do until I can get another one, hopefully tomorrow or monday.
