U Joint retainer clip removal help

I have a driveshaft u joint that I have to remove but one end is held in by a clip that is just a C and no place to put plyers on.
All I can do is just make it spin in the groove.
I was thinking weld a bump of weld onto each end and grab it with the plyers.
Screw drives and hammers are not working.
Any suggustions?

If the other side's clip is still good I would remove it and force the u joint out that end giving you room to grab the broken clip with a good pair of pliers and work it out that way.

Hit it with an air chisel. It will pop right off.
