Tube Seals for Dana 30 CAD

Has anyone had any success in installing tube seals in the Dana 30 with CAD? I know many will recommend installing tj shafts but I have a posilock system and chromoly joints that work great along with an Aussie locker. It would be nice to be able to have a tube seal that fits both sides.

Unfortunately they can't be used on a D30 with a CAD. The axle shaft is too large at the CAD end to pass thru a tube seal.

What about using a tube seal for the 30 spline axles on one side? Does the stock passenger axle neck down to the standard 1.069" diameter or is it bigger all the way though?

I use one on the driver side. that is the seal that is more involved for replacement. The cad side is easy to clean and the seal isn't that difficult replacing with the proper seal driver.

Very good point. At least we know we can use one on the drivers side and the passenger side is a relatively easy swap with the CAD

I am still curious about using the 30 spline seal on the passenger side. I think I'm going to call alloy USA and request one of each then post back with the results

If you have access to a machine shop or a friend with access, you can turn the inside of the passenger side seal to 1.70" diameter. That will allow the fat part of the outer shaft to pass through. That's what I did. The outer part of the seal is wide enough to pass the shaft already.

also, you can put the shaft in first then install the seal. You would just have to remove the tube seal to get your axle shaft out. Either way, you can make this work with the CAD.

If you have some good searching skills, youll find a member here actually took a tube seal apart and modified it to fit his passenger 2 piece axle shaft. I was looking for the same thing and decided it was easier to swap out to a one piece shaft and use a normal tube seal and have the added strength over the 2piece
