I'm getting my replacement tub this week, a buddy and I are stripping it. My old one is a 91 2.5l.. the new one is a 95 4.0... how much of the dash harness will need changed over from my old tub to the new if any? I'm not transferring the entire dash over to the new one, and am aware of an extra gauge where my clock on the old dash was that will be non-functioning...

The harness for the 91 and 95 interior are toally different. Theguage connector is totally different. The 95 also has a few other wires like the speed input and a different wiring setup through the bulkhead for switched ignition feed.

I'm gonna be swapping my tub in the next few weeks so if you come across any tips/tricks, please share!!

Its an easy swap if the electronics are swapped too.

I have a 93 6 cylinder 5 speed hardtop and I am on my third harness trying to replace the hacked harness that is currently in there. I have tried a 95 harness, that made the starter run non stop when the battery was connected. I also tried a 92 harness!!! that would charge the fuel pump but not engage the starter. According to the Jeep dealership harnesses from hey 92 or 93 are compatible and 94 and 95 are compatible. Four and six cylinders are compatible as our manual and automatic . Hardtop harnesses have extra for the hardtop connections

Kjg I thought your wiring was done?

Under hood is done. I needed to take the dash out for some work there and decided to try and fix the hack job under there. That's turned into a nightmare.

Just run the new harness under the IP. Give Chris a call. I know he has a few and that harness is easier to swap then to work on especially if the PO hacked it without knowing what he was doing. Thanks for posting the harness years. I know some of the differnces like the 91 didnt have the speedo. The cluster changed in the 92 and 94 had the change and added a connector and changed the switched ignition feed.

What do you mean run it under the IP. And who's Chris?

Sorry, I thought I gave you Chris's info. He is a local guy that parts out Jeeps. Specializes in YJ's. He has a ton of YJ parts and is really reasonable with prices. Chris

I meant replace all the wiring on the body harness side. The great thing about the YJ harness is everything under the dash is easy to get at and easy to put in.

to put 2 cents more in, lot easier to replace the harness than trace out the hacking; I went to local yard (pull your own parts) got harness from parking lights (including the bulkhead connectors and fuse panel) all the way to the tail lights. I converted 6cyl to 360 V8 using 86 CJ7 driveline, nose and 93 firewall to tail gate. Difficult part was eliminating the FI/computer and all the extra wires; Good luck;

Yes I spoke with him. He said more than likely the under hood harness is rotted out. That would make sense if I was just plain having problems with all harnesses. They factory harness works fine, its just all hacked up.

You can always give him a call. I thought I gave you the info. You are doing it right by pulling it and not trying to stand on your head looking under the dash trying to fix it Kjg. I thought you replaced the under hood harness. Are you back to the original engine harness now?

No, the under hood harness is seemingly fine. The only underhood mods I did was the pdc you built for me. And eventually the upgraded wires for the upgraded alternator.

The under dash harness is my issue I believe. With the factory harness everything works and runs. The radio is all rigged up but it works.
According to the jeep dealer the 92/93 harness are the same part number. The 92 harness that I picked up was in wonderful shape and plugged up fine, but wouldnt engage the starter. Everything else activated and primed. So im at a loss. Maybe try another 92/93 harness if I can find one in good shape.
