i am about to do the inside of the tub with herculiner. my ? is, is that in my research after preping the tub via sanding it and cleaning it, everyone recommends to wipe it down with acetone, can you use other household products such as rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover to do the wipe down?

basically you use the acetone to remove any grease smudges from the tub, that is usually the reason why you shouldn't touch the tub after using acetone because when you apply the herculiner, it will get a gooy look and wont set properly on that spot. I am assuming yo could, the problem with rubbing alchohol is that it will vaporize too vast, if you have any mineral spirits that would probably work. don't take my word for this though, im not 100% sure. The amount of alcohol or nail polish remover you would need to do the tub would cost you 10x more then a can of acetone or MEK. I wouldn't recommend using anything other then what herc's instructions say. You can pick either of the 2 up in any hardware store.
