Transmission shifts hard easy fix
My tranny was shifting kind of difficult for the last couple of monthes. Did not want to go into gear all of the time. I figured that it was just getting old.
Today I checked all of the fluids and low and behold my tranny dope was milky white. I have not gone into any deep holes since my last tranny refill the only water that I have gone through is street water maybe 8 inches deep at the most one time. I checked the breather hose and it is connected and looking good. I have no idea how the water got in there? Anyway the reason for this thread is, if your tranny is not shifting good check the dope now. Anyone have a idea how the water got in there? Could water splash from the road get into the tranny. I do like to splash water ( not when other cars are around ) but never thought it would get into my tranny.

Check the seal where the shifter enters the tranny.
They tend to crack from all the flexing and water will splash up there and then run down into the tranny thru the cracked seal. They are about $6.00 new. |
