transmission reverse switch

I have a 91 wrangler s with the 2.5l I went to crown automotive and asked for a reverse switch because mine was broken when I got back to my house I looked at the measurements and design of both of them and there not the same. Anyone have a idea where I can get one like the picture shown?

My reverse light switch hasn't worked on our Jeep since we got it. I have found that if you place the transmission in reverse, the Jeep goes backwards without the reverse lights on. Unless you need them to work for an inspection or OCD reason, meh.. let it go.

Went to the crown in canton mass. And yea I need them for inspection. And I have a 2.5l yj so I assumed it was the ax 5. But they've never seen that switch in a ax 5 or a ax 15

what part number did they try to sell you? couldnt figure out crowns web site but in looking at advanced auto's site the new one comes with 2 wires and a connector attached to it. They also offer a pigtail for the jeep side to connect them together that you would have to splice in.

I'm assuming the wires coming out of it are cut in that image. Here's the Quadratec link: http://www.quadratec.com/products/52156_00.htm
The Autozone near my house has a similar part to this, exact same configuration, just different brand name than Quadratec.

Forgive me, I'm kinda slow. If what they gave you is what I posted, what's the issue? Too long, too short, wrong connector? what?

Too short maybe half a inch or a 1/4 inch. And the design isn't even the same. more threads than the one I need.

I'd have to see them side by side. It's weird because if you notice, Quad says, "For 88-99 Jeep® Vehicles with AX4, AX5 or AX15 Transmission" so it looks like fairly common part throughout the manual trans line.

EDIT: the image for the BA-10 trans is the same image but different part number. Images probably not accurate.

Went out and took a look under my 91 YJ with AX5 - mine looks like the Quadratec picture: wires out of the side, flat top. Good thing too, cause while under there, I noticed that my switch was never reconnected after we dropped it to replace the clutch. Plugged her back in and BOOM.. she has reverse lights again. Another thing off the punch list.

Switch on the left is the one I need or am curious as to where i can get one like that. And that's what the tranny looks like if any help identifying it.

What I would do is email or live chat with the folks from quadratech. It seems they have different offerings for your year. I assume it didn't work with the shorter style? I've had good success with quadratic and Morris. If they don't have it then its junkyard time. What's wrOng with your current one?
