transmission issues

ok so my stock puegout transmission's first gear went kaputz so i went and picked up another puegout to swap in and i have it in and all ready to go but then i went to go through the gears to make sure it shifts fine and at first it would only go 1-4 but no 5th or reverse and then nothing at all just stops moving. turns out the shifter got stuck in reverse then it was almost like i put it in reverse pulled the shifter out and slide it back into neutral so the tranny was locked up. so i fixed it and same thing only goes 1-4 then after a bit it gets stuck in the same spot. im completely baffled as to why its doing this as it makes no sense to me. i want to stick to this tranny just because i have it. so any help would be nice

thanks in advanced
joe

I think we are all trying to figure out if you are the first person to ever swap in a Peugeot for a Peugeot.

Seriously, though , now you have 2 bad trannys, go out and find an ax-5/15 to throw in there.

I can only help you by saying the same thing as ctm.
It's worth it to find the NV3550 or ax-15 and trash that Peugeot.

I don't know what to tell you about the symptoms you're having.
I'm guessing it's a shift fork alignment issue.
perhaps a bent fork?
or a worn linkage?

Truly though you'll spare yourself a lifetime of anguish and pain by ELIMINATING the Pukegoat.

You said it was like it was in reverse and you pulled the shifter out and put it in neutral so it was locked. Then you fixed it. What did you do to "fix it"

to fix it i would realign the shifter fork for 5th and reverse so that it would be in neutral again. what the root of my issues was the shifter. the cherokee ba 10/5's were built just different enough from the wrangler's ba 10/5's that they used a different shifter. so i took a cherokee shifter and slid it in and it shifts perfectly now. i had to bend the cherokee's shifter to make it fit with the center console in place because i cant get the two sections to separate but it actually works really well so im going to leave it like it is.
