which transmission

im about to a 2.5 to 4.0 swap on my 90 yj

I was gonna use the ax15 transmission I have but decided that i want to use an auto trans

which auto trans will bolt up to the 4.0 motor

ive heard a tf999 and a tf400 and they don't need any wiring

which one will work for me?
which trans would be better?
does that tranny come out of the cj7?

I have everything I need for them swap just waiting to decide on a transmission

any info would help

What about the AW4 you can find in most any XJ?

I think that would work and would be readily available.

I don't know that there are any problems with either one of them but the tf999 is a 3 speed and the aw4 is a 4 speed. I'd go with the 4 speed.

Both are good transmissions but like stated, 4 speeds are better then 3 for gas mileage

most of the tf999 also dont have lockup either. mine hits 3rd gear at about 25 mph and thats all you get :P I would put in an aw4 if mine ever went out. that or swap to manual
