Transfer Case Noise

When driving my 92 wrangler in 4wd Hi, it makes a loud clank noise every maybe 20 seconds. It isnt a consistant noise as it does this at random times. You can actually feel it in your seat when driving. Anyone know what I should do or what it is??

Sounds like there might be slop in the chain.
And when ever it slacks up and tightens it will slap the gears. I would be looking for a Dana 300 in the future.

No matter what, it's all guessing unless you open it up. Could be teeth missing, could be the sloppy chain as suggested, who knows. I can't think of anything that cycles every 20 seconds though so all bets are off from me!
