Tranny & locker swap

Two questions: What's the easiest tranny swap w/minimum modifications for a 87 Wrangler? I want to get away from the Peugeot crap! Second, I have a locker rear end that does not work for my type driving(more roading/light off roading). What is the best route to take? I want to step down to LSD, I am currently running 33x12.50. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm gonna sell the locker to help pay for the tranny conversion. Can't say how much, the guy I bought the Jeep from installed the locker. May be able to deal with locker if I have a beefier tranny. Still in the planning phase.
