tranny fluid

So last weekend I buried my Jeep to the bottom of the doors in mud(and found where all the missing floor plugs where!), since then my tranny, 5 speed, shifts hard for the first ten minutes of driving, but once the Jeep warms up, it shifts fine. Would a simple fluid change fix, or is it a more serious issue? Also, to change the fluid on the tranny, is it a simple drain and fill? Or is there more to it on these? Thanks!

It is a simple drain and fill. Use 10W-30 motor oil. May not be the cause of your hard shifting, but is a good maintenance item to do regularly.

Well change the fluid and look for water in the fluid. If you got mud in it then you might have do a flush to get the dirt out.Even might have to open it up. The last thing is if youplan on doing that again change out all the vent lines to the tranny tcase and difs. They get old and crack water then can get in.
I would use the royal purple in the tranny .

I've had great results with Redline. Remember, opinions on lubricants are like a certain body orifice...everybody has one.
