Track bar w/ new polyurethane bushings

I just replaced my rear t-bar bushings with polyurethane ones. Q: How tight should I turn the bolts? I stopped turning the nuts the moment the free play ended... is this right?

Just makes sure its snug so it won't come loose. Most guys on here don't run them (me included) because they hinder flex and can sometimes cause binding on lifted YJ's. But I always tell folks to try out no track bars and if they didn't like they way it felt to reinstall them. So do whatever your comfortable with.

I just installed a new Exhaust and while I had it on the lift I removed the Rear track bar. So the other day I make a sharp left and I hear some Crazy loud banging/grinding noise it feels like my Rearend is going to fall out of the jeep. I look underneath and what is happening is when I make a sharp left the rear axle moves so much my driveshaft ends up hitting the muffler. Nice big dent in my brand new muffler. Looks like I am going to put the trackbar back on.

not to say your not right but maybe it was your exhaust moving. With good bushings and shackles your axle shouldn't move much at all left to right. Even without trackbars. All fullsize vehicles used to run leaves and no bar.

Louie4, how do u mean by snugly? You mean tight until my spanner couldn't turn anymore...
Almost left it out but when I made a sharp turn, my rig felt like it'd overturn. Too much G-force for me...

check your transmission mount too. Mine was broken and the whole driveline was moving around side to side and hitting the muffler.

loose enough so it falls off and clears all the moving parts.

As you can see very few are fans of track bars. As far as how tight. Just tighten it so it does not come loose. If you plan to take your YJ off road ne you find that you are stuck with one front and one rear wheel in the air spinning...

It is because you have track bars, removing your track bars will cure the problem
