This may be a dumb question, but I went to the local Agri Supply today and picked up some tow hooks for the front. But they dont bolt on at all. I notice alot of people running the hooks on the front and I was wondering where you got them and how you bolted them on.

Walmart. Lots of other places too.
It's good to hear someone ask about recovery. Too many people want big tires before hooks and rollbars.
I was up at Carnage Canyon LHC for a pleasant drive Saturday and went to check out fireman's hill. I watched a Toyota roll 2 3/4 times and end up with a tree in the cab. With a 3 year old in the vehicle. Nobody was hurt too bad. No roll bar, no recovery hooks. Then I had to go up there and pull him out.

Mine are from Quadratec. They use the factory holes under the plastic frame cover and the front bumper bolt.

Oh, just run grade 5 bolts through the hooks and frame. It's that easy. If you have a winch plate there, they will go through that too.

Do the hooks have 2 holes or 3 holes. Mine had 3 holes and I used the 2 outter holes and they bolted right up no issues.

I ran into this problem as well. There are hooks that look the exact same that have the holes in the right place, but the generic ones have the holes spaced out differently. You can pick up the hooks with the right holes at http://www.quadratec.com/products/12007_02.htm

It's been a long time since I did tow hooks. I got mine at a 4x4 East coast off road. They had the ones with two holes and they did not fit. The ones with three holes will fit perfectly and you wont use the hole in the center. Most shops will carry both but the three holes area direct bolt on!

The ones with 2 holes fit TJ's and the ones with 3 fit TJs and YJs.
