there is too much play in my stearing is there a way to get rid of it?

You need to find out if the play is coming from the gear box, or the lower steering link, the u joints in the steering link go bad and cause alot of play, if its the gear box, there is an adjustment on the top of the steering box, only tighten it a tiny bit, if you over tighten it, it will be very tough to steer.

check the tie rod end that attaches to your pitman arm...im having the same issue and its b/c that tie rod end is done....have somone move the wheel while you check to see where your slack is..
