TJ style downpipe?

Is there any reason not to run the exhaust in front of the oil pan like on the TJ in a YJ? Will that heat up the starter too much? Is the TJ starter in a different place? No right?

you mean like this? It is not all that close to the starter but I attached a piece of tin to the joint clamp to act as a heat shield anyway.

not nearly as close as it looks like

I bought one from a local guy doing a 350 swap. Much better clearance. Only negative is that the passenger side floorboard gets a little warmer.

I picked mine up from ebay, Walker part # 53458, under $60. I had to put a few pieces in to get it connected to my existing stuff, but everything's available from autozone. No cons, great clearance, do it!

The 2.5 TJ exhaust also routes around the front of the pan. I've got a TJ downpipe on my 2.5

Sorry for the necro, but if you run it this was can you remove the oil pan without unbolting the pipe? In the Midwest you don't unbolt exhaust you usually end up cutting it off :0

Since the sump in the pain has the oil pick-up tube and screen, I would say you need the pipe off.

So, if I have a 4.2, can I use a TJ down pipe? I think the manifolds are different. Can I use a TJ 4.0 manifold on a 4.2?
