TJ Soundbar in a YJ?

Anyone know if a soundbar for a TJ will fit in a YJ? Dimensions, width-wise, don't seem to be much different on the exterior, but I haven't measured the roll bar to see.

I just asked my son, via text msg, about his because he dropped a TJ sound bar in his 93. According to him the fit was no problem and no modifications were not needed.

The rear bars on a TJ are parallel (upper horizontal parts), while on a YJ family bar they spread apart as they go towards the rear. I know YJ bars are closer together where they attach to the main hoop. Post back with some pics so others can learn from your experience.

The TJ soundbar will work in the rearmost position. Others are correct- it won't mount in a forward position. Stock speakers are blah- sounds ok with rear channels of head unit equalized to cut out mid- to high-ranges leaving the dash speakers to project these frequencies (if your head unit can do this; pioneer calls this FIE: front image enhancement.) Keeps the overheads from drowning out conversation etc. I am thinking of swapping the full-range speakers out for a three way and clipping the tweeter feeds. Buttttttt I digress; TJ bar is fine. You may want a connector to plug it in though. Somebody shared a link to them on eBay in the midst of a similar thread.

Just to avoid any confusion;

That's what I meant- didn't think they could be done any other way w/ std. single hoop bar

This. I forget if it was too wide or narrow but in any case it was not a good fit behind the hoop.

Perfect! I'm in a 91 and don't have the family bars. Doesn't seem like that'll make a difference; correct me if I'm wrong.

FYI the TJ soundbar I have came with factory installed "full range" speakers. I paid $30 for it. They are 5-1/4" and didn't sound great but weren't too awful, either. But my Pioneer was a little much for them sometimes.

An improvement - a remarkable improvement - for only $30 can be had, however. While not as nice as perhaps new Polks or my old Altec Lansing back in the 80s, in my heep the Scosch 5.25 3-ways improved the base and really cut down on the midrange peakiness. Not only that they don't sound over-driven. I recommend this lo-buck upgrade.

Again, this isn't a high end approach but it's pretty darn good sound improvement for very little cash.
