TJ roll bar in YJ?

I am sure this has been addressed here in the past, what all is involved in mounting TJ family bar in a 1989 yj? Can it be done safely? Also can I get 31x10.5x15 on stock suspension? Thanks for help in advance. Sorry for goofy questions, new jeep guy.

I am contemplating the same swap, everything I have read says that it will there may be one bolt hole that does not line up on each side on the floor but you can either enlarge or drill a new hole to fix. My biggest issues I think is getting the old one out.

1987 YJ, 258, Weber 32/36, HEI, Custom Sound bar, Hardtop/Sun-rider/bikini tops, 2" Lift, 1/2" Boomerangs, 1" Body & MM Lift. 32x11.5x15 Copper STT's on Black Rock 950 Lobos w/4" backspacing, Still need Front Bumper and Seats.

My build thread:

YJ sport to YJ family is a direct swap. Not so sure about the TJ to YJ swap though, the rear fender wells are shaped completely different.

The TJ bar will need new holes drilled in your tub for most of the mounting points. Don't know if the TJ bar is any better than the YJ family bar.

Black '91 YJ, pretty much stock for now. Finished engine rebuild. Runs beautifully.

Not sure TJ is better than YJ, but I have had some difficulty finding YJ family. A TJ came up for good price and the guy said it would fit my YJ. I just wanted a better opinion than the guy trying to sell it.

It'll work if you're willing to drill new holes in the tub and windshield frame.

With the TJ rollbar, installing a TJ soft top becomes easier. And yes the rollbar will fit with some drilling.

Sitting in your Jeep does NOT count as a mod!
