TJ Front clip on YJ

Hi all,

I'm wondering if one can install a complete front clip (Fenders, hood, and grill) from a TJ on a YJ ?

I'm asking because I ended up with a complete TJ front clip when I did the AEV HighLine conversion.

I also got a free 1995 Jeep YJ from the Junkyard, that doesn't have a front clip.

I'm planning to drop in a 5.3 v8 and convert it to a pickup.

Help and guidance is highly appreciated !

physically it's possible to put a TJ front clip on a YJ tub with some mods, but the TJ front clip is longer, the hood hinges are set closer together, the hump in the TJ's hood won't line up with the YJ cowl....and the headlights are the wrong shape

here's a link to a thread where they are doing the opposite, and adapting an early front clip to a TJ tub, but it will give you an idea of the differences between the TJ and earlier tubs/front clips

It seems easier to do yj to tj than tj to yj ..

I used the tj grill and tube fenders for a tj...nothing is direct bolt on but if you tweak and do a little welding it lines up pretty good..dont use the tj hood it fits like crap......Just remember any mod you do to you jeep will need some love with a BFH or some tweaking..

The reason i put the tj grill on was my fenders and grill were bent from a accident.I also never liked how square the whole front of the jeep looked with the yj grill..In my eyes its your jeep do as you like..Make it your own by adding or changing whatever you like.

bdavid, I was just bustin' on ya' a little bro...Being a CJ owner in the late eighties, I have to admit that when the YJ's were first introduced, I absolutely hated the squareness, but over the years I have grown to like 'em. But, if I had to replace the front sheetmetal I would think about installing the TJ grill too (or maybe go with a Commando grill just to be even more different)

What no one came up with this! Put a whole CJ front clip on and now you have a classic Jeep with round headlights. Still a little work but can be done.
