tj engine and trans in a yj?

Can you swap an engine and trans from a tj into a yj? I have a 93 with a 4.0 3 spd auto. I was given a 4.0 4 spd auto set up... Is it swappable?

3 spd is on the column.
4 spd is on the floor..

The engines are the same size.. So id assume the mounting for them is the same..

Would the 4 spd trans mount up to the existing transfercase? Or would i need a new transfercase?

I it might take some cosmetic work like removing the original shifter...

Look up AW4 swaps on the forum. It has been done numerous times from XJ and TJ. You need the harness and controller. A meter the schematics and a good sense of electrical wiring. Yes, you can do it. I would do some looking though. It seems like it mught be easier to keep the YJ electronics and adapt the AW4.
