TJ doors on a YJ?

Came across a jeep on Craigslist and the guy has TJ doors on his YJ, is this possible with only a little work? His doors or body don't look butchered up or anything, looks clean. Would love to do this if its easy enough. Here's his link which has pics: http://annapolis.craigslist.org/cto/3687569853.html

To my knowledge there are only 2 differences between the doors. 1st is where the striker is located on the tub. 2nd is the striker is a different shape. It shouldn't be difficult to swap in tj doors.

Edit: Here's a link to a tj to yj door swap. You can see the difference between the strikers. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/in...ors-tj-689693/

yes this is possible. you would have to change the striker but i believe that is it. i have come across a thread with a lot of YJ's running TJ doors and tops. i would love to do this over this summer if cash allows.

The link I posted for the Craigslist jeep he has a normal stricter pin setup kind of like our YJ's not a u-shaped like the factory TJ one. Confused....

I'm guessing the guy swapped the latch mechanism from the tj doors to a yj mechanism . I didn't even know you could do that . I would send the guy an email and ask how he made it work.

If he gets back to you, can you post what he says? I would be very interested to know what he did.

If the doors are that close could always just swap the door pannels if you just want the storage at the door base

I thought the windshield rake is different enough that you can't swap TJ and YJ doors. YJ and CJ can be swapped though.

I believe the outside rake is different, but the TJ windshield is thicker which mean the inside rake has the possibility of being the same. The TJ windshield makes more of an inverted v shape whereas the YJ is a flat frame.

No I don't think that'll work because the widow crank is in different spots. So the panels aren't swappable.

I stand corrected. The only other thing that would make sense woulf be to switch the YJ lock set up into it. It ashame none of the pics show the side of the door where the catch mechanism is. Then we could easily figure it out.

See the YJ has the window crank closer to the hinges.
