which tires with OME 2.5" suspension lift?

A) I plan on ordering and installing the OME 2.5" suspension lift kit for my stock YJ, which currently has the factory OEM leaf springs and 30" tires.
With the OME 2.5" lift, would I be able to switch to 32s? Or only 31s?

B) Although not a daily driver, I want my YJ to primarily be smooth and reliable on the street. I am more interested in driving back roads, fire roads, gravel roads, with occasional mud and snow during inclement weather, and I don't plan on doing any serious, hard core rock crawling. My Jeep is more for getting to places to camp, fish, hunt, shoot, etc.
So what would be a good all-purpose tire for my intended uses?

The OME 36r springs and 3/4" or 1" shackles and no body lift will take 33's no problem. I'll try to get a picture soon.

The 36r springs have 5 leaves. The other OME 2.5" have 4 leaves and are a closer to 2.5".
The 36r springs are actually much taller than 2.5" closer to 3, some say 3.5 mine measured in at about 3"

The regular OME springs + 1" shackles can handle 32's

36r OME springs, 5/8 shackles, TJ flares, 1" body lift on 33s.

The tires rub up inside the tops of the fends at full stuff. A lot; it eventually bent up the front fenders.

This is right on the very edge of what will fit, and be able to actually use.

I am about 80% on road - I LOVE my current setup. OME 36R springs on all four corners, OME shocks. 31" Goodyear Duratracs.

You will likely rub some with 32" tires (unless you add a body or shackle lift).

Personally, I think 31's on a 2.5" lifted YJ is perfect - especially if you have the 4-banger like me.

that's exactly the set-up I plan to order, with the 36R springs on all four corners... what exactly did you have to order for that set-up (because I assume OME doesn't sell a complete kit with those, right?)?

bah I could fit 36s with my 36Rs.......



oh ya Im SOA... hehe... but before I was...

If ya dont mind cuting your fender, you can stuff 33 EASILY......

this was SUA with 36 rear and 14 front with BL.... I have took the BL out since the SOA, but with a BL a bit you could go 33 easily...





and those are TSL SS bias ... VERY TUFF.... have yet to pop one in 5 years, but not very road friendly, I DD mine as well, but I like the airplane like sound the tires give off going down the road, they are prone to flat spots in mornings as they ahve no belts in them... but you would be hard pressed to find a better of road tire anywhere

Just buy the 36R's seperate here:http://www.quadratec.com/products/16090_5058.htm
(quadratech calls them "medium", but they are indeed the 36R, 5 pack.) Also, you can PM Joe, the quadratech rep here on JF and he will hook you up with free shipping and possibly even a bit more off cost.

And then piece together the rest of the kit with OME components or other brands. I used the 36R springs, BDS shocks, and MORE 5/8in shackles on my Jeep. Buying the whole OME 'kit" is a waste of $$ IMO.

36R's are a 5 leaf pack (instead of a 4 leaf) which will obviously support more weight. Without the extra leaf, your front end will sag a bit if you have a heavy bumper and winch on the 14F's. (even more so if you have a 6cyl) I personally don't like the raked look, so the 36R's on all 4 corners make my Jeep sit rather level (only a SLIGHT rake in front).

Here's my Jeep with OME 36R's, MORE 5/8in shackles, and a 1in BL. Tires are worn 245/75/16's. The pic is taken from a bad angle and it makes it look WAY more raked than it truly is. Also now with the front bumper, winch, and gas tank back on it is sitting perfectly. I will try to get some new pics (this one is a few months old) in the next day or so if your interested.

unles your going SOA in the future, the 14 will be most awsome for a SUA application.... the 14s held up steller for 5+ years on teh front of my rig while SUA...

once SOA they wont hold up so well, I swapped for the 36R up front, they hold up perfect with the SOA app... the 14s wont sag or give you a nose dve look, mine held up fine with a I6 in it.... the pics posted above of the mad flex is 14 fronts and 36 rears.... SOA pics are 36 front and rear

staying SUA I would just go 14s, unless you want the extra height.
