timing chain replacement

When is it warranted to replace? should i do it proactively? Mechanic things its loose, and its making ticking type of noises.

how complicated of a job? thanks!

Look at your timing. If it flutters the chain is loose. Then you might want to think about getting in there ASAP.

Radiator, water pump, grill then there it is behind a cover. You will need a puller.

I make it sound simple don't I.. Anyway it is a day job for the first time.

I haven't changed mine ever. I have 295k miles and it runs great. No sense in fixing something that ain't broke but I'm sure that philosophy will come back to bite me.

lol true enough....im sure the timing chain isnt my biggest worry right now, it seems to be second gear in my automatic transmission lol

I've been thinking about replacing mine just because of the mileage but its hard to tear it apart when it runs perfectly fine.
