temp sensor on 1993 2.5

Hi I am brand new to the forum, I just bought my second YJ/Wrangler
I am trying to make my temp gauge work, i did the test as per the book and the wiring to the gauge is good and so is the wiring, I have a sensor with only 1 wire, the one I bought has 2 wires and the plug won't fit etc, is there something wrong with my wiring?
thanks

That is the engine controller temp sensor near the tstat. Its the wrong one. Take it back. You need the sensor in the rear of the head.
