Taking the plunge
So I bought and installed my RE 4.5 inch lift. and even with the shims the rear driveshaft is binding completely and not rotating. So I have called the local driveline shop, they're gonna install a SYE and CV drive shaft (they make the drive shafts ) and if needed, reweld the spring perches on my axle.
between 1314 and 1664 depending if they can get away with shims or have to weld the perches again.

That seems really odd. I've got the same lift plus 1/2 inch boomies, no driveshaft mods and no vibes or binding. All I have is 4 degree shims and all is well. This may sound like a dumb question but are your shims in backwards? Thats the only thing I can think of that could be causing that much trouble.

Wow thats a lot of money to drop on getting that done. I purchased a SYE from Oconee for 170, cut down xj shaft for 70 (cost of cutting and balance) installed myself really straight forward. only requires simple hand tools...I would consider this before unloading that kind of dough!!! also I would check your shims like beer says....the fat part should be in the front!

I installed the SYE myself, 200 bux. Had the driveline made, 268 bux installed it myself...total 468 bux....do it yourself and save a bunch of money. PS: I had never seen the inside of a transfer case b4 this...it was simple..just follow the directions!! -Sparky-
