Thanks for the idea. I was ready to cut the z gate off and then I thought why don't I just take a dremmel tool and grind of the gate without removing the plate. I actually left about 1/8 inch of the stop in place so now I only have to very slightly move the shifter to the side to shift.

Wish I had seen this before I put my Jeep all back together from the liner job! Oh well, almost out of stuff to "fix" so this will give me something to keep going with! Thanks for the tip

Never thought about doing this, the more ways to get rid of things not needed the better, thanks for the idea.

i swapped out a nv3550 and had to get a bracket from advance adapters to mount my t-case shifter and now that z-gate makes it even harder to shift. I may have to try this since I am about to have her down for an 8.8 swap.

Sometimes when going from 2HI to 4HI I have trouble shifting and I need to roll the Jeep ahead a little bit slowly to be able to shift, is this something I can adjust at the lever, or more an issue with the internals of the tcase.

It happens as well going from 4HI to 4LO but it is more difficult cause you have to go thru neutral for this and there is no rolling the jeep in neutral

Any ideas about what to check?

Great writeup Max

Fernando, I think you are actually supposed to be moving when you go into 4Hi anyhow.

I never have any noticeable problems switching into either one, but sometimes it takes a little longer for the light to come on...then again, I have never checked my vac hoses down there.

Thanks Max! Another awesome writeup. I'll have my T/C out soon for my ax-15 swap and will definitely do this. BTW, I was one of the people who thought everything should be in neutral, luckily my tow was on a flatbed, lol. Thanks again!

I might tackle this tonight. This or the vent line that I found between my gas tank and the skid. I might need to replace that.

Great write-up Max. I find it specially annoying shifting back and fourth between 4hi and 4low on the trail. seem like this would help. with my 2.5 i need to shift to 4low when going up an anthill and then back when we hit a flat straight away.

wish i would have seen this thread when my shifter came off in my hand and i had to get a new new isolator thingie
