T-case chain

so i recently just put my new winch on to get ready for rausch creek, then my t case chain starts slipping! yes have used the search function and yes have watched a couple videos. its about 50/50 to leave it in the jeep and just split the case or not. this would make things much easier if i could! what are your opinions everything operates fine and it barely skips once in a while just wann get it done. or if you could post succesful links that maybe have not seen that would be greatly appreciated! anyone near delaware county pa wanna show me? that would be even better! thanks

HI media,
How do you know the chain is slipping?

If it is, hopefully it is not causing more damage. I think you should replace and repair mucho pronto if slippage is actually the problem. It's not that hard. If not, find out where the problem is and repair. It's not smart to let problems linger.

Yea if its slipping, the its gonna break something soon enough. Change it out. I swapped mine out when I did my SYE and it was easy. Especially since I already had everything out. They can be had for around $80 on eBay.

Its easy to do while its still in the vehicle, although it doesn't take very much effort to take it out and do it on a workbench. Only a couple extra bolts.

I did mine while it was in the vehicle. It helps to have air tools, especially for taking the nut off the front yoke. That had to come off so the assembly was loose enough to remove the old chain and get the new one on. Took maybe an hour.

Go ahead and install the "upgrade" from alloyusa and let us know how it goes. It'll help us both out...

Do it right.

Take it out and fix/replace what needs to be done. Seals are a given. The mounts for the trans ought to be done.

Your gonna spend all the time and money to go to RC and then blow it when you junk (slang for Jeep BTW) craps out `cause you did`nt do what should have been done.

HI media,
I asked this in the first reply in this thread. You never answered.

HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT THE CHAIN IS "SLIPPING"?

I've never heard of this. I've heard of breaking, or slapping but not slipping.

I'm wondering this too. I'm not doubting you have a problem but I've never heard of a chain slipping. If it did, I'd imagine a loud "pop" when you put power to wheels in 4WD.

Oh trust me the chain can slip. It gives a nasty Kerchunk when it does. It will only do this on 4x4 when under load.
If you have limited time just change the chain in the vehicle but as mentioned above it is not hard to remove the tcase and do it on a bench.
