which sye kit to buy?

i am looking for opinions on sye kits and drive shafts to match. most of the kits i have seen seem to hone right in on the $400 range for sye kit and rear drive shaft together. is that a good price for a quality setup? they boast a lifetime warranty and a fully detailed install guide. i think the kits i am referring to are the rugged ridge brand.

so all that being said, anyone have suggestions? i do not plan on super hardcore rock crawling just leisurely trails with a few climbs and some mud thrown in for good measure. just your basic weekend warrior kind of stuff. anything that is easy to install and half way decent in toughness is all i need.

nothing by rugged ridge will ever go on my jeep. JB conversons is by far the best.

JB or Advanced Adapters. Both are top quality parts that you can't go wrong with. I run the A/A in mine.

I did a lot of research before making my decision and I ended up going with the JB Conversions SYE, and I went with the modified XJ shaft.

Another here with the JB Conversion kit and no complaints in over two years. Their customer service was good also.

well i guess my mind, as far as sye kits is concerned, is made up JB conversions it shall be.

i know tom woods shafts are the cream of the crop, but i'm afraid i don't have $600 to sink into a sye and driveshaft together. is there a decent driveshaft out there in the 200-300 range?

Have your local shop make your shaft out of an XJ front driveshaft. That should run around $100- $150(including U joints) depending on the shaft condition.

Or you can have your local shop build you one with all new parts for $250-$300 range.(I bet you won't be able to tell the difference between that an a TW shaft.)

I believe all XJ front shafts are the same as long as it is from a 4.0 XJ. JY shaft should be cheap. I got mine for $20. My local truck shop will cut down and balance for $50, add in the cost of some ratle can paint and two new Ujoints. This is pretty soon on my list. Waiting until after my wheeling trip next weekend to pull the trigger on the JB SYE though (need to make sure I don't spend all my Jeep $$ then end up breaking something on the trails).

Cheers!

I just put a Tatton like this one on my Heep. Very nicely built and with a lifetime guarantee on the shaft/welds and unlike TW shafts, you don't have to use a certain u-joint to meet the warranty. The owner Curtis has an eBay store, but I called and gave him my measurements and details on lift, add ons etc. and he had it to my door in a week for $220 (incl. JF discount). VERY happy with it!

this is pretty much exactly what i am looking for. i have a front shaft being made from my old front shaft (i moved the motor 3" forward when i put in the 5.2). i am only looking for a rear shaft with the sye. i will defiantly look into the tatton shaft. what is the jf code?
