Sye installation problem

All has went well until this point. One of the shafts that comes out of the case is to long. am i supposed to cut it down because on all the instructions pictures they all look way shorter than mine. And the cover wont slide on right because that piece sticks out to far. I have taken it apart a few times and everything seems to set into place right. Please see pictures. Kit is a rugged ridge

I had the same issue when I installed my SYE. The instructions that came with my kit said on some T-cases the shaft might have to be cut. I seem to recall that the shaft could not extend
more than 3/4 of an inch from the case, check with your SYE manufacture to be sure of the length. I used a 3" cut off tool and then a file to smooth off the edges. Works great.

I cut slightly less that 3/4 of an inch and it seemed to work. I should have it installed tmrw morning. Thanks for your input!

yes, use a cut off wheel and cut it to less than 1", that should do it.

I just did this to mine yesterday. Mine is a JB & the directions said to mesure the shifter rod, if it is 10.2" cut it down to 9.38" (typicaly 88 to 89 models) I ASSUMED my 92 would be ok, put it all back together and it wouldn't shift. Took it back apart and the rod mesured 10.2"! cut it, put all back together and now it shifts fine!

I've had to cut a few down so far mostly on the older cases.

Yeah I'm about to start putting it back in the heep. No more tcase drop . After I'm done with that I'm taking it to my buddies to swap in the 8.8

It showed up in almost every set of directions that I've read to install sye's. Which was the first two.
